The Convent Pharmacy
MONASTICUM, THE CONVENT PHARMACY
The Monasticum, the Convent Pharmacy, was born from the ancient monastic tradition of “hortus sanitatis” where medicinal plants where cultivated under the direction of apothecary monks, who had the task of curing the ill and making medicines: many of the traditional products created in Umbrian monasteries as well as in nearby regions can be found here. There is a selection of teas, remedies, and spirits made following ancient recipes such as nocino (walnut liquor), laurus (bay leaf liquor), energetic spirits and sleeping spirits.
